UUCRFC vs Academy
On Saturday UUC faced Belfast side Academy. UUC looked to bounce back to winning form after two defeats while Academy looked to improve after their defeat to C.I.Y.M.S.

The first half began with the university winning ball off their own restart, however after a few phases a pass was thrown which was intercepted and capitalised on which was converted afterwards, leaving the university 0-7 down after 5 minutes. The university side won a penalty on the half way line which was quickly ran by Andrew Eastop, who found support from Brandan Parke, who then put Mitchel Lucas for a try, with the conversation kicked by James Stevenson. As the half moved on UUC grew into the game, Scrum Half Andrew Eastop hoisted up a box kick which landed kindly for chasing Brendan Parke who ran it in from 40 metres, with the two points missed afterwards. Academy came back with a Penalty and a try with a conversation to make the score 12-17 to the away side. After some good play, Second Row Dan Morgan broke the line after pushing off two players, he was supported by Ollie Doherty who set up a ruck in the opposition 22. Some phases later Andrew Eastop, grubbered the ball through for Stephen Logan to gather and run in a try in the corner, with the two points being missed afterwards. For the remainder of the half Academy put increasing pressure on the university side, but UUC only conceded a penalty making the score line 17-20. Before the half ended UUC had a chance to tie up the score line with a penalty on the touch line but it was missed and the team went into the second half 17-20 down.

The second have did not reflect the first in the amount of points scored with the first major event being Flanker Mitchel Lucas’ dubious yellow card for not retreating 10 metres after a penalty. Academy capitalised by slotting in a penalty from the touch line. Academy also scored a try before Mitchel came back on, after relentless pressure in UUC’s 22 Academy turned over a ruck and went wide to score in the corner, which was converted. The last points of the game went to Academy after pinning UUC in their own 22, UUC cleared with a box kick, which was gathered and scored by the winger, which was not converted. The game ended 17-35 to Academy.
