After a bright start from Sligo IT it was very much one way traffic for the remainder of the game with Sligo only pushing, unsuccessfully, for a consolation score late in the match. UUC Led 48-0 at half time so it is to Sligo's credit that they fought back in the second half to keep the score down.

For UUC some of the continuity play was out of the top drawer and some of the tries scored were first class. They showed the benefits of direct penetrating running, defended effectively when they had to whilst their set piece supplied plenty of quality ball. Hopefully if UUC can maintain this form they can go at least a step further than last year when they were defeated in the semi-finals of the IRCU Division 2 Championship.
