Over seven weeks in April, May and June the Sports Development Unit has been running a UU Jaguars rugby camp at the Jordanstown Campus for boys aged 14-17. During the camp the players went through different aspects of the game following the IRFU Long Term Player Development Model. Under the watchful eye of Mike McKeever and Jonny Morgan the sessions included running and handling, ball presentation and breakdown skills, kicking, decision making, position specific skills, imagery for rugby.
The quality of the sessions was further enhanced with the use of guest coaches including ex-Irish Internationals Nial Malone and Maurice Field, ex-Ulster player Clem Boyd, School of Sports Studies Lecturer Tadhg McIntyre and Nopera Stewart.
This was the first rugby camp of the year with more to follow over the summer period and next year. For further details please click HERE
